No, I don’t mean that ABC show with a bunch of middle-aged women bickering about topics that make men want to take a drill to their temple… I’m talking about the sweet view from my new NYC apartment! This summer I made the move from my previous apartment over in Gramercy Park to a one bedroom in Chelsea. Although my other place was nice, this one is definitely a step up, particularly when it comes to having a view — which is hugely important to me, since I spend most of my days working from home. After 2 years of seeing nothing but a brick office building, I’m thrilled to finally have something pretty to look at while I’m stuck at my desk. Is it the best view in the city? nah… but it’s not bad! Check it out:

My younger brother texted me the other night and asked me if I’d be interested in buying a motorcycle with him (Read: buy a motorcycle for him). He said it was a 850cc Yahama from the 80’s and it was $750 — so the images running through my head weren’t pretty, but he sent me a pic today and it’s actually not bad:

If you take off the sound system between the handlebars, and those goofy-ass rear speakers, it’s not a bad looking bike — at least for starters. I’m toying with the idea of throwing down for it and having him fix it up. I’d like to get my license at some point, and this would give both of us a bike to learn on and use for the test. I don’t get home to NJ all that often, so riding before the winter might be out of the question, but at least I’ll have something to do when I make it home next spring.

Anyway, we’ll see how this one pans out. He still has to get the idea to slide with my parents (who, not surprisingly, are out of town this week). If he can get my dad into the idea of a fix it up project, he might have a shot… a small shot…

I happen to catch the Colbert Report the other day and he had a guest on who was promoting a foundation called "Nothing But Nets." Apparently almost 3,000 people in Africa die from malaria every day… EVERY DAY! Now I’m not a bleeding heart, nor am I someone who gets behind every cause to come along, but that number is astounding to me.

The foundation works by distributing sleeping nets to families which can protect them for up to 4 years. It’s only $10 per net, which includes installation, so I bought a bunch of them. I don’t know about you, but getting bitten by mosquitoes while you try to sleep is bad enough — let alone worrying about dying from it.

If you can manage $10, I’d encourage you to go for it. Seriously, how hard is it to skip starbucks for two days?

Hey all, and welcome to my new blog. It’s been a while since my last attempt, but I’m hoping that I’ll be able to stay active this time around. I actually had a blog at this same URL back while I was in college — before everyone and their brother started blogging — but I just couldn’t find the time (or motivation) to keep posting. I love the domain name though, and I’ve always intended to start back up, so here goes.

What am I going to be posting about? Well, right now I can say that my life really revolves around 3 major things: web development, internet entrepreneurship, and mixed martial arts. So, many of my posts will likely revolve around those things, but I’m sure there will also be a lot of random stuff along the way. I’ve been traveling quite a bit recently, and I definitely want to cover some of that.

Anyway, that’s enough for this first post. I’m still updating some of the basic features around the site, so sit tight — and look for more posts soon!
